Compressed Natural Gas

With sizable transportation demands throughout Seaboard’s integrated system, Seaboard Energy’s compressed natural gas (CNG) supports the energy needs of Seaboard Foods’ CNG powered vehicles.

Seaboard Energy also delivers fleet-focused natural gas solutions, opening its first 24/7 public CNG filling station, located across from Seaboard Foods’ pork processing plant at 3271 Highway 54 in Guymon, OK. The addition of this station ensures the availability of CNG to Seaboard Foods’ fleets and others.

What is CNG?

CNG is an alternative fuel to diesel or gasoline. It is the same natural gas commonly used in most homes and industrial processes. As a motor fuel, natural gas is pressurized at a fueling station, which provides energy for vehicles specifically designed to run on natural gas.

Benefits of CNG

CNG is affordable, costing less than diesel or gasoline. In addition, CNG burns much cleaner than gasoline or diesel because it primarily consists of methane, the cleanest burning of all fossil fuels. It decreases particulate matter emissions by as much as 90%, greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 20% and NOx emissions by as much as 50% compared to diesel.

North America produces 98% of the natural gas consumed in the United States, and the United States is the largest producer of it in the world, making it the most domestic transportation fuel available.

CNG vehicles and fueling stations are designed and built with a focus on safety. The standards of safety are meant to meet or exceed those of their gasoline and diesel counterparts.
